These extinct animals have long been of interest to people. Dinosaurs were very different in appearance, so they cannot be drawn according to the same pattern. If you want to portray a Diplodocus or Tyrannosaurus, find a reconstruction picture of this particular animal.
It is necessary
- - paper;
- - pencil;
- - pictures with reconstruction of dinosaurs.
Instructions
Step 1
Look at the picture of a dinosaur. Its figure can be divided into several parts, which are easier to draw than the whole animal. To make it easier for you to maintain the proportions, mark the dimensions of the picture and mark the shape of each part with just a couple of strokes.
Step 2
Dinosaurs are striking in their diversity, it is easy to get confused in the structure of one or another species, so look carefully at the sample so as not to be mistaken. The head of a tyrannosaurus is significantly larger than a similar part of a diplodocus. The structure of the jaws is also completely different. Herbivorous dinosaurs have a significantly larger body compared to the head than carnivores.
Step 3
Keep this in mind when sketching. All individual parts now need to be connected with smooth lines. Leave the right touches and get rid of unnecessary ones. Draw auxiliary lines inside the shape that will facilitate further work. In the circle or oval of the head, draw a cross dividing it into four parts.
Step 4
Draw the eyes on the horizontal line, and the nose on the vertical line. Make an incision at the bottom of the mouth. If the dinosaur is a predator, depict the mouth open. Draw in more detail the limbs, their position and do not forget to outline the placement of the joints, usually they are clearly visible under the skin of a hairless animal.
Step 5
Now look in the sample picture for small, but such important details: horny plates and growths on the head and spine, claws, teeth. Transfer these elements to your drawing. More carefully draw out the shape of its superciliary arches with light movements of a soft pencil. Refine the general shape of the head.
Step 6
Make a clearer and more accurate contour of all parts of the animal's body. Add volume to the figure by applying light and shade. Do not paint over all convex and illuminated details, but shade those that are in the shadow.
Step 7
Move a little away from the drawing and compare it with the original. Correct any inaccuracies, if any.
