It is necessary

  • - paper;
  • - pencil;
  • - flat brush;
  • - gouache.

Instructions

Step 1

Take a sheet of thick drawing paper and, focusing on a photo of a real rose, sketch the outlines of the flower with a thin simple pencil. Repeat the outlines and curves of the petals, try to make the drawing spontaneous.

Step 2

Now take a flat brush and a set of gouache. Draw some zinc white on a flat brush and cover the drawing with a thin translucent layer of liquid paint, through which the contours drawn in pencil will show through.

Step 3

Now brush in some dark red gouache and use light, uneven strokes to paint over the background around the flower. At the edges of the flower, the background should be more saturated. Below the flower, use green paint to paint the main outlines of the leaves in large strokes. After that, take a closer look at the real rose with which you are sketching the picture.

Step 4

Determine which parts of the flower are the most shaded and which are the most illuminated. Using a rich mixture of ocher and brown, sketch out the lines of shadow on the petals, and then start painting the petals that have different pastel shades. To do this, mix the desired shade - yellow, pink or orange, with zinc white.

Step 5

Gently painting the petals, try to make the transitions between colors smooth by blurring them with a brush. Paint over the relatively dark areas of the petals with ordinary paint, and paint the lightest fragments with the same shades, but with a large amount of added white.

Step 6

Add a dash of blue gouache to the overall paint to outline the colder areas of the lower petals of the rose. Then dilute some liquid white with a drop of ocher and cover the entire drawing with this color evenly.

Step 7

Work on the shadows, lighten the highlights if necessary, refine the shape of the petals and their edges using a thin brush. Also work on the main background the shadow that the flower bud casts.
