From 24 to 29 July 2012 in the Latvian resort town of Jurmala the traditional International Competition of Young Pop Music Performers was held. It is called "New Wave" and for many young singers it becomes a ticket to the Russian pop scene. This is a great opportunity to show your singing talents, perform in front of a discerning jury and a grateful audience ready to support your favorites.

The co-chairman of the competition, together with the Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is the Latvian composer Raimonds Pauls, widely known and loved by many Russian performers. It was he who opened the competition by reading the greeting letter of the President of Latvia at the gala concert, in which the winners of the previous years' competition took part. The jury included singers Valery Meladze, Leonid Agutin, Igor Nikolaev, singers Valeria, Laima Vaikule, producer Igor Matvienko.

The "New Wave" was held in Jurmala with constant success, which accompanies its program and performances of the participants from year to year. In 2012, the winner, who received the main cash prize of 50 thousand euros, was a young Russian singer performing under the pseudonym Niloo (Nilu). She performed compositions Unfaifthful, "The Best" and "Ola-ola". The full name of the winner is Nilufar Rasulmukhamedova.

Groups "W" and "IOWA" also performed from Russia. IOWA also received a special award from Love radio - "Love radio choice". In addition, the group was rewarded with on-air support of the radio station and a ticket to the Big Love Show music program, which will be held in 2013.

The second place was taken by the Italian performer Constanzo del Pinto, who received an award of 30 thousand euros. The third place was rightfully taken by the Ukrainian Maria Yaremchuk, who was awarded 20 thousand dollars and the audience award. Competition compositions, songs of the girl "Homeless", "Leakage water" and "Vesna" were liked by the sponsor - mobile operator "Megafon". From this company Maria received a certificate for the creation of a music video and the rotation of her song on the television channel "MUZ TV".

In total, 16 performers from 14 countries took part in the 11th "New Wave". Many famous Russian and foreign musicians took part in the final concert with pleasure. Among them were those who at one time also became the “discovery” of the “New Wave”: Anastasia Stotskaya, the group “Smash!”, Tina Karol, Irina Dubtsova, Polina Gagarina and others.
