The grass carp is a strong and large freshwater fish that is a coveted trophy for many anglers. However, unlike the same carp, the grass carp is extremely cautious and, if there is a sufficient food base, is rarely interested in fishing lures.

To carefully inspect the reservoir is the first thing that every fisherman should do, who has set out to catch a grass carp. And this statement is quite natural, since this representative of the cyprinid family feeds exclusively on plant food, and if a sufficient number of aquatic plants grow in the reservoir, then he is unlikely to be interested in even the most fragrant baits and baits. The chance that grass carp can bite appears only if there is a minimum amount of vegetation in the lake or if the algae do not meet its taste preferences.

So what does grass carp bite on?

If the grass carp is hungry, then it may be intrigued by a wide variety of foods. This fish may well be interested in bait made from filamentous algae, young pea shoots, clover and even a young cucumber ovary. However, the real professional fisherman knows that the best bait that can be used when fishing for grass carp is, of course, corn.

White carp can happily covet both canned corn, the choice of which is huge in grocery stores, and special fishing corn. However, in order to interest the grass carp, the bait should be equipped in such a way that it is five to twenty centimeters from the bottom.

To prevent the corn from sinking to the bottom, you can attach a couple of Styrofoam balls to it. The grass carp may well bite on the combined bait, which consists of corn and a special floating boilie.

Lure

It must be understood that bait alone is not enough for successful catching of grass carp. It is important to lure the fish to the fishing spot using the appropriate bait.

Groundbait for grass carp should be fine-grained, in other words - such that when it hits the surface of the water, it turns into a kind of dust. This type of bait can not only make the fish come to the place of fishing, but also stay there for a long time.

The optimal basis for bait can serve as sunflower cake, corn grits, chopped canned corn or boiled peas. You can also use ready-to-eat foods that are available from most fishing shops.

Going fishing, it is important to remember that grass carp is a very careful fish and any noise can frighten it off. By the way, at night this fish behaves more boldly and this significantly increases the chance of becoming the proud owner of such an honorable trophy.
