A crossed hinge is a hinge whose walls are criss-cross. Our grandmothers called her "loop-cross". In modern literature, these loops are called English or front, knitted for the lower lobe. The fabric, knitted from crossed loops, turns out to be denser and more elastic. These loops are used to knit socks, mittens, scarves and embossed patterns. This technique is used not so often, and usually it is stipulated in advance in the description of the pattern.
