In the center of one of the plot lines is the story of a divorced man who has lost hope of finding his own happiness. He became disillusioned with marriage, with women. This hero was brilliantly played by Mickey Rourke. Tired of the constant search for the meaning of life, the man agrees to a fleeting relationship with a young girl. At first, he did not take this relationship seriously, but in fact they turned his life upside down. The main character remembered that he had only one daughter, who managed to grow up and mature. He wanted to find her, although there was no certainty that his daughter would want to communicate with him. The main character was stopped by fear. He was afraid not only to be rejected, but also to face the past, which treated him very cruelly and forced him to be at the very bottom.
The heroine of another story is an attractive young woman. She was played by Keira Knightley. The beauty met a homeless boy and decided to help him. The guy ended up on the street because of injustice and the woman decided to settle this issue. She succeeds at the cost of her own happiness. The young man of the main character did not understand her and refused to support her.
Not all critics liked the film. Some pointed to a lot of annoying inconsistencies, but most decided that there were a lot of love stories in the plot that could have happened in any other city. The viewers would like to see more views of the capital of Germany and feel the connection of the storyline to Berlin.
