Every year Denmark hosts a festival dedicated to the country's cultural heritage. It is called "Golden Days" and is organized in Copenhagen - the Danish capital. In 2012, the festive events will take place in September.
The golden age of Denmark has long been considered the heyday of Danish architecture, philosophy, music and literature; the period when the country's talented artists immortalized their legendary canvases in painting - that is, the 19th century.
The Golden Days festival was first organized in 1993. Previously, it was held once every two years, and since 2009 it has become an annual event. Each individual holiday is dedicated to the cultural heritage of Denmark from different periods. For example, the themes of previous years were: "The flowering of Danish art in the middle of the 19th century", "Harbingers of the era of modernism", "The life and culture of Copenhagen in the period between the two world wars", "The human body is part of artistic culture", etc. In 2011, the Golden Days Festival was dedicated to the issues of faith in God and its impact on society. In 2012, the theme of the festival is "Cultural Heritage of the First World War".
The organizers of the Festival "Golden Days" in Denmark are the Ministry of Culture of the country, as well as various institutions of science and culture of Copenhagen: museums, theaters, clubs, schools, guilds of artists and actors, etc.
Every year the festival invites residents and guests of the country to visit various themed events. For example, every day performances and the best classical music will be held at various theater and concert venues in Copenhagen. Interesting educational excursions will be presented to all guests of the event, telling about the chosen era in the development of Danish art and clearly demonstrating the surviving examples of this heritage. There will also be film screenings, art exhibitions and many other fun activities.
