A fancy-dress birthday, a holiday at school, a matinee in kindergarten or New Year's - often all these events require carnival costumes. Not always (and not everyone) has the opportunity to purchase them ready-made. Calling on imagination to the rescue and applying the simplest sewing skills, you can independently make costumes with minimal material costs.
It is necessary
- - fabric (crepe satin or "Crystal");
- - mesh fabric (gold);
- - decorative braid;
- - oblique inlay;
- - lacing tape;
- - wire;
- - accessories (beard, mustache).
Instructions
Step 1
Suit "Butterfly". Take a picture of a butterfly to have an accurate picture of the contours of the wings. Make a pattern of 2 pairs of wings on paper (you can use a newspaper), then transfer them to the fabric and cut them out. If possible, it is advisable to make the wings double-sided (in two layers of fabric). In this case, they will be front on both sides. Fold the details in pairs with the wrong side inward and process the edges with a bias tape that fits well and looks great on any garment.
Step 2
After completing all the operations, take a wire that is stiff enough to hold its shape, and very carefully, having previously made a small loop on one edge, insert it into each wing. Spread the wings on a flat surface and connect them together, and first the upper ones with the lower ones. Then sew the two resulting pieces - left and right. Sew the elastic on the backpack in the same color as the main clothes of the suit. If necessary, sew the contour of the wings manually with tinsel.
Step 3
For a double skirt, cut out 4 "half-sun" parts, 2 parts for each skirt, taking into account that the length of the lower one is 10 cm longer, and sew together. Overcast the bottom of the garment with a zigzag stitch. Sew a ruffle along the hem of both skirts, having previously placed white taffeta under it, but 2-3 cm longer. This will give the product a splendor and elegant look. Fold 2 skirts (both right sides up), sweep together at the waist, trim with a bias tape and insert a thin elastic band. Choose a blouse or T-shirt to match the sewn product. After the costume is fully worn, throw a gold mesh over your shoulders, which will become an additional decoration, and also hide the straps from the wings. Put on a headband with antennae, which are commercially available in any color.
Step 4
Suit "Gnome". A suit made of "Crystal" fabric looks very beautiful, which has a shine, and in any light. You will need material in blue (main) and white colors. For sewing carnival costumes (especially for children), there is no need for precise manufacturing of patterns. Take the child's usual, fairly spacious, pants, turn them inside out and circle them on paper (you can on the newspaper). You will get 2 patterns - front and back legs. Cut out 4 parts, sew them together, overcast the seams. Insert an elastic band into the belt, as well as along the bottom of the product. Decorate the lower edges of the legs with braid.
Step 5
Perform the operations for making a vest pattern. To do this, take a loose-fitting blouse on the body and transfer it to paper. Then remove the sleeves from the pattern and round the bottom edges of the shelves. Copy the resulting patterns onto the fabric, cut out the details and sew. For a vest, it is permissible to lay one layer of batting. In this case, make a lining that is suitable for white chintz. Quilt each piece of batting and the front side with rhombuses, connect the side and shoulder seams. Sew the seams on the lining and join the front with the lining with seams inward.
Step 6
Finish the edges of the vest around the entire perimeter with a silver bias tape. Sew a 3 cm wide silver tape with loops on top. After finishing sewing in these loops, lace up a ribbon of white or blue color, but you can also use a silver one. Sew a long white cap with blue trim. Tie a silver braid around the edge of the headdress. In addition to the gnome costume, get a small white beard. You can wear a white turtleneck under the vest, and gym shoes on your legs.
