If your favorite item is torn, you can mend it. However, no matter how carefully we sewed up the damage, the seams will still be visible. Applications will come to the rescue. They will not only hide the hole in your clothes, but they will make your jeans, shirt, breeches and other things more colorful.
It is necessary
- Stencil;
- The fabric on which the applique will be applied;
- Push pins for attaching the stencil to the fabric;
- Acrylic paint for fabric;
- A soft brush, sponge or piece of foam rubber;
- Thick cardboard, board or foam (in order to stretch and secure the fabric with buttons).
Instructions
Step 1
First, print the stencil on heavy paper. You can also use thin paper, then stick it on cardboard. Cut out the stencil. This should be done as carefully as possible, starting with the smallest details.
Step 2
Prepare the fabric or garment for the applique. It will be better if the fabric is not synthetic, but natural (and certainly clean). Stretch the fabric and pin it to the foam, board, or other support using the buttons, making sure the tension is the same everywhere. The fabric should lie on the support in one layer so that the pattern is not printed on the opposite side of the garment.
Step 3
Now use the same push pins to secure the stencil over the fabric. Don't feel sorry for the buttons.
Step 4
Now it's time to apply the applique. Take acrylic paints on fabric, a soft brush, foam rubber or a sponge and get started. Although the cardboard absorbs paint well, it is best not to brush under the stencil with a brush. Once you miss, you will no longer be able to remove the paint from your clothes. If it seems to you that it takes a long time to paint with a brush, use a soft sponge or foam rubber. This method is, of course, dirtier, but the color must be evenly distributed.
Step 5
After finishing painting, wait until the paint dries a little (about half an hour). Remove the stencil. You can remove it later, but you may need to rip it off in this case. After removing the stencil from the item, leave it to dry for a day.
Step 6
To fix the applique on the fabric, you need to iron it with an iron. Unfold fabric pattern side down or inside out garment and iron without steam for at least five minutes.
