Assembling models of military equipment is a fascinating and educational activity that not only takes time, but contributes to a deeper study of technology and history. To make the tank model more authentic, it must be painted in appropriate colors. This is the final stage of the assembly, which should be treated with all responsibility and accuracy.

Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the tools and materials you will need to paint the model. You cannot do without pastel crayons, matte and glossy acrylic paints in different shades; you will also need oil paint. It is convenient to paint with an airbrush and a set of brushes of various hardness and size.
Step 2
Equip the area where you will paint. It is most convenient to paint the models on the table, after laying it out with old newspapers, so as not to stain the table. The workplace should be adequately lit and spacious. Place tools and materials in a convenient place from the edge of the table.
Step 3
Start with the base color. Use shades that are inherent in a real battle tank. Apply the paint in a thin, even layer. Wait until the first coat is dry and then apply two or three more thin coats in succession. Paint carefully as it will be difficult to fix any blemishes later.
Step 4
Draw shadow areas on the model's body where the paint will not fade. Use an airbrush for this purpose. Carefully machine all corners of the structure and depressions.
Step 5
Highlight the protruding parts of the tank with paint. Apply a lighter tone to the hatches of the combat vehicle and flat surfaces. The contrast will make the essential details of the model extremely expressive.
Step 6
Move on to drawing the tracks. It is advisable to paint them in the color of the soil if you plan to use a natural background for the model. Give the rubbing parts of the tracks a shiny metal look for more realism and authenticity.
Step 7
If necessary, apply camouflage paint to the hull. Camouflage, as a rule, depends on the terrain conditions where the vehicle is involved in hostilities. Use photographs and drawings of real tanks when applying camouflage paint.
Step 8
Paint the parts attached to the body, such as the trench tool. Shine metal parts to simulate scuffs. This will give the instrument a more realistic look.
Step 9
To make the model even more realistic, simulate scratches, dents and chips with paint. It is most convenient to use a piece of foam sponge for this. Soak the foam rubber in the paint and apply artificial "defects" with short, abrupt hand movements.
Step 10
Examine the painted model and remove any streaks with a clean brush. Put the finished tank model to dry. After drying, eliminate the defects that have appeared, which are always difficult at first to do without.
