The inertial reel is characterized by smoothness and ease of movement; it is a drum rotating on an axis, on which a fishing line is wound. This is the simplest design, which is nevertheless indispensable in float fishing from a boat and in strong currents, sometimes it is used to store fishing line.
The structure of the inertial coil
The body of an inertial reel consists of three main elements: a drum, an axle and a stop. A bracket is attached to it for fixing the reel to the rod. In modern models, various devices can be installed that improve the speed or smoothness of rotation, a backstop, brake systems. To achieve the easiest possible movement, manufacturers install rolling bearings inside the mechanism between the axle and the drum.

Inertial reels are called so because when the drum is cast and spun, it does not stop immediately, but continues to rotate by inertia. It is very difficult to leave it instantly, even if the rig has already fallen into the water and there is no longer a need to feed the line. Thus, when throwing light equipment, for example a float with a lead and a bait, the result will not be very pleasant over a long distance - the line will unwind and get tangled.
Inertial reels for spinning are only suitable if the spoon is heavy enough and the drum is equipped with rolling bearings. The secret of successful spinning lies in the throwing skill: when casting, you need to hold the side of the reel with your finger and stop its rotation in time.

However, inertia reels are best suited for fishing in calm places from a boat or in a fast current. You just need to calmly lower the bait into the water and watch how it is slowly carried away by the current. In case of a sharp bite, the brake installed on some models can be very useful.
