A lot can be said about the importance of bait for a real fisherman. A good bait is the key to successful fishing. It often happens that a favorite jig (the so-called artificial bait among the people) is lost in the process of fishing. We will tell you how to make a similar bait at home.
It is necessary
- - jigs for a casting sample;
- - small cardboard box;
- - soft wire;
- - four small carnations;
- - 1/2 cup gypsum;
- - a knife with a sharp end;
- - machine oil or petroleum jelly;
- - tin can;
- - fish hooks of the right size;
- - lead and tin alloy - POS-18 or POS-30.
- - file or side cutters;
- - a thin needle;
- - fine grain sandpaper;
- - paste for polishing GOI;
- - a piece of flannel.
Instructions
Step 1
Make a small box out of cardboard, you can take a finished one. Dilute the gypsum to the consistency of thick sour cream. Pour the prepared solution into a box, filling it halfway. Lubricate the jigs used as a sample with machine oil.
Step 2
Place them in the prepared solution and press down lightly. In the corners of the box, insert four studs, head down. Now you need to wait 15 minutes for the solution to harden. Then coat the entire surface of the homemade mold with all its contents with a thin layer of machine oil. Then pour the rest of the gypsum into the box. The solution should harden. After that, using a knife, peel the form from the cardboard and carefully separate it into two halves of the form. Next, take out the sample jigs.
Step 3
On one half, use a sharp knife to make pouring channels downward and air outlets upward to prevent material flowing through them. Remove the plaster crumbs from the mold and place the hooks there in the appropriate places. Fold both halves together. The form is ready.
Step 4
Fill the mold with alloy. Use an alloy of lead and tin as a casting material, for example, POS-18, where the tin content is 18%, or POS-30, with the presence of 30% tin. Put the metal in the prepared tin can and place it on the stove. Be sure to use a jar with a narrow drain so that the alloy does not flow past the mold. Assemble the form and secure it carefully with wire. Pour the alloy into the metal channels with a thin stream and let it solidify.
Step 5
In a few minutes, open the form - the jigs are ready. Use a file or side cutters to remove excess alloy, and use a steel needle to make holes for the vein. Sand the finished bait with fine-grain sandpaper, then cover it with a special GOI polishing paste. Apply the paste with a piece of flannel. Such processing will preserve its shine and protect your finished jig from oxidation. Now you can go fishing.
