Sophisticated gamers sometimes need to share the best moments of the game with other players or friends. To accomplish this task, you must be able to record the game on video. The best and most classic solution is the Fraps program. She is able to record everything that happens on the game screen along with accompanying sounds.
Program setting
First, the Fraps program is downloaded and installed. It should be noted that the free version, downloaded from the developer's official website, allows you to record only 30 seconds of video. This will include a Fraps icon on the video. Therefore, those wishing to record lengthy videos can purchase the full version.
The default settings in the program should be suitable for the vast majority of people. However, there are some things to consider. Select the "Movies" tab in order to configure the video recording. Here you can select the folder to record the video. Please note that the directory must be specified one where there is really a lot of space. To do this, click the "Change" button and specify a new path to save.
Now pay attention to the hotkey for recording video. By default, there is the F9 button, you can put something of your own name in "Video Capture Hotkey". It is by pressing this key in the game that video recording will begin.
Adjust the frame rate per second. Here this item is designated as FPS (Frame per second). If the computer is not very powerful, then you don't need to set too high FPS. You need to decide on this setting on the spot, taking into account the characteristics of the PC, but usually 30 FPS is enough for a regular game. The main thing is that the settings of this parameter do not slow down the PC and the quality of the recorded video does not suffer.
Decide if you want to record audio along with the video. If you use some kind of third-party audio track, then you can safely uncheck the "Record sound" item, the file size will be significantly reduced. Usually, however, everyone leaves the audio recording.
Video recording
After configuring Fraps, launch the game in the usual way. When you decide it's time to start recording, press the hot button that is assigned in Fraps. The default is F9. After this action, the FPS numbers will appear in the corner of the game screen, the recording has started. When everything you need is recorded, press the hotkey again to turn off the recording. The recorded files will be located exactly in the directory that you previously specified when setting up the program.
Working with a video file
Fraps will create an uncompressed AVI file that will be very large. To compress video, Windows Movie Maker or Hand Brake programs and the like are used. It can be converted, for example, to a smaller mp4 format. After compressing, you can upload the video to one of the video hosting sites on the Internet, for example, on YouTube. If you do not plan to distribute the video, you can save it to a USB flash drive, disk or cloud storage.
