Various animals often become "models" for children and parents who learn about wildlife in the process of modeling. True, the faces of local hares and dogs can get bored pretty quickly. To make the process more fun, use images of exotic animals. For example, make a kangaroo out of salt dough.

Instructions

Step 1

Knead the salted dough. To do this, mix a glass of flour, half a glass of salt and three quarters of a glass of water. Add some cocoa to achieve a kangaroo-like brownish color. Knead the finished dough thoroughly so that no air bubbles remain in it. Tear off a piece of dough and roll it into a cylinder. Make the upper end twice as wide as the lower. You now have a kangaroo tail.

Step 2

Pinch off a piece from the mass that is four cuts smaller than the tail. Roll a ball out of it, then pull it out, giving it an egg shape - this is the head of a kangaroo. Make the torso of the animal. It will be the same length as the tail. Make the upper half of the body narrower than the lower. To sculpt the exact shape, be guided by the photo of the animal.

Step 3

The length of the hind legs together with the feet will be slightly longer than the tail. Bend a third of this length parallel to the table surface, forming a foot. Make the front legs twice as short and thin as the hind legs. The shape of the forepaws remains practically unchanged throughout their length.

Step 4

Dazzle the kangaroo ears (they are half the length of the head), while pushing harder on the center of the ears so that the ears become almond-shaped.

Step 5

Assemble all the prepared parts into a one-piece kangaroo figurine. Since the dough has dried out a little during the sculpting of the parts, it is necessary to ensure the strength of their adhesion to the body. To do this, make several cuts at the junction of the tail, paws and head with the body and moisten the dough with water. Make the same notches on the body. Place the parts of the kangaroo one by one, press on them and brush their edges with your fingers. To make the craft stable, you can slightly change the pose of the kangaroo by tilting it back and forth until the animal stands on the table on its own.

Step 6

Bake the finished toy in the oven to make it more durable. Then paint the kangaroo with acrylics and varnish.
