The lily made of silk is the perfect decoration for a hairstyle or outfit for a special occasion. It can be very similar to a real flower or fancy, unusual color and shape.
Prepare everything you need to make your silk artificial flower. You will need:
- a piece of silk of a single color;
- green silk or satin ribbon;
- a small piece of velvet;
- scissors;
- 2 pieces of copper wire (larger and smaller diameter);
- nippers;
- glue;
- glue gun;
- 3 tbsp. gelatin;
- 1 tbsp. water;
- acrylic paints;
- brush.
Material preparation
Use natural or artificial silk to make a lily. To keep the flower in shape, the fabric must be fixed with gelatin.
Soak 3 tablespoons of gelatin in a glass of cold boiled water for about an hour. During this time, the gelatin should swell. Heat the solution to a boil, but do not boil. The gelatin should dissolve completely without lumps.
Dip the material into the resulting solution so that it completely covers the silk. Take out the fabric, straighten and remove excess gelatin. Hang the piece flat and let it dry completely.
How to make lily petals, pistil, and stamens
Make a lily petal pattern. It should have an elongated shape. Cut out 6 identical pieces.
To make the lily more realistic, touch up the petals. Consider a living flower or a photograph of it. Apply the desired shades with a brush with special acrylic paints for working on fabric.
Make a pestle. Prepare a strip of silk about 1 to 2 cm wide. Cut off a piece of copper wire about 5 cm long with wire cutters. Wrap the wire with silk, fix the tip with hot glue using a special glue gun.
For the stamens, cut a few smaller pieces of wire. Glue a small piece of velvet to one edge of each. After the glue is dry, bend this part at right angles.
In handicraft stores, you can buy ready-made stamens and pistils for making silk lilies.
How to assemble flower parts
Collect the lily. Take a pistil, place the stamens around it. Wrap them with wire. Place the petals around the center and make a few turns of wire at the bottom of the flower. Secure everything with hot glue.
Spread out the petals to give the lily the desired shape. Insert a piece of thick wire into the bottom of the flower to serve as the stem. Wrap it and the sepal with a green silk or satin ribbon. Secure the fabric with a few drops of glue.
