I decided to share my experience with WWM thermal paper. One day I wanted to decorate a T-shirt with a beautiful tattoo design using thermal transfer paper for light-colored inkjet fabrics. As a result, new and unexpected ideas have emerged for its application and handling.
Instructions
Step 1
For printing, it is advisable to use thermal paper of at least A5 format - since it is very thin, the printer often chews paper, especially the 10 * 15cm format.
Step 2
Before transferring the pattern, the fabric must be ironed so that it is not wet, otherwise, due to the temperature, the pattern will crack and burst.
Step 3
For the same reason (high temperature - the film bursts!) Put in clothes (in a T-shirt - under the front side) that absorbs heat - a wooden board, cardboard, newspaper. Or iron from the wrong side of the fabric.
Step 4
It is better to print an illustration on thermal paper than a photo. Since the illustration contains contrast and a limited number of colors (3-4), due to this, the drawing looks better than the photo. Or the photo needs to be processed so that it looks like an illustration.
I will show you how to make an illustration from a photo in one of the master classes.
A convex relief pattern such as a chasing or a 3D photo, or a relief tattoo also looks good.
Step 5
It is best to transfer the drawing not to knitwear, but to an ordinary non-stretching fabric such as a pillowcase, scarf or towel. If you choose knitwear, then 100% cotton is better (again - because of good heat absorption!) And not very stretchy (jeans, for example). It is good to transfer the drawing to a regular wooden or plywood cutting board.
Step 6
When translating a drawing with an iron, you need to wait until the image completely adheres to the fabric and leave to cool. remove carefully. If some areas are not stuck, it is necessary to iron it through the tracing paper until it becomes hot, but do not immediately separate it, and just wait until it cools down, otherwise the tracing paper will be removed along with the drawing.
Step 7
It is better to start practicing translating pictures with small images - such as characters in the Wingdings font in size 96 /
