Domestic cats love to participate in the life of their owners, or at least observe it, choosing a convenient location. If a cat gets into the "frame" while drawing a portrait, do not drive it away, but write it into the picture. Let it become a bright accent on the canvas.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose the most appropriate arrangement of objects in space. Ask your sitters to change the pose several times, see which they will look the most organic.
Step 2
Then he will determine a place for himself. Depending on the angle in which you depict a person and a cat, the picture will acquire additional advantages or become completely uninteresting.
Step 3
Position the paper or canvas so that both objects will fit. Determine the approximate size of each one in paper space and outline it with a light outline. Then draw each shape individually. Since your cat is unlikely to lie in the same position the entire time you work, start with her. Draw the central axis, which will conventionally indicate the animal's spine. Then calculate and mark with segments in the figure the proportional ratio of the animal's body parts
Step 4
Draw the "skeleton" of a human image in the same way. To make it easier for you to determine the size of each part, take the size of one of them as a unit of measurement, and then count how many times it "fits" in each part of the body.
Step 5
Erase unnecessary auxiliary construction strokes and use smooth lines to outline a more precise shape of the objects. After that, you can delete all lines of the drawing, except for the final outlines of the cat and the person.
Step 6
You can convey the volume of objects when painting or shading a picture. To do this, you need to display the distribution of light on the surface as accurately as possible. Find the brightest spot on each object. Mix a suitable shade on the palette and distribute it over the area of the drawing. Then gradually darken the less-lit areas and change the shades of the paint depending on the lighting and the influence of colors located nearby.
Step 7
Lastly, fill the background of the picture with color. He should not distract attention from the main objects or merge with them. Do not forget to draw shadows next to the cat and the person.
