Performing on stage is fundamentally different from singing in a room or on the street, and it's not just about spotlights, a large number of demanding spectators and excitement. Your best friend on stage is the microphone, it will transform the song into a masterpiece and make the audience remember and love it. But only if you know how to use it.
It is necessary
- - microphone;
- - rack;
- - connected equipment.
Instructions
Step 1
In advance, before the start of the performance, check all the contacts, whether the plug is loose in the socket. Walk up to the microphone and check the sound quality - you may need to adjust the equipment.
Step 2
If you have a vocal or vocal microphone in front of you, hold it horizontally. Mentally draw a horizontal axis along it - sound directed along this axis will be perceived much better than sound from behind or from the sides. Note that there are also microphones with other directivity types.
Step 3
Try not to turn away from the microphone or point it in different directions. Its design is such that it will immediately begin to perceive extraneous noises, sound from monitors, etc. As a result, the quality of the recording will suffer, the system will start up (inhuman howl from the speakers).
Step 4
Keep the microphone at a distance of 2.5-5 cm from your face, no more than 10 cm. If the distance is too far, extraneous noise will appear, and the sound of your voice will become quieter. At the same time, if you get too close, the audience will hear your breathing, smacking, smacking lips and other unnecessary sounds that are not heard when singing without a microphone.
Step 5
When you feel confident, try playing with the distance from your face to the microphone. Experienced singers successfully take advantage of the fact that when approaching, the voice sounds louder, and when farther away, it is quieter. As a result, you will be able to maintain a constant level while creating interesting sound effects.
Step 6
If you've sung without a microphone before, don't be surprised if your voice sounds different. To get used to this and learn how to operate the microphone, practice with the technique beforehand. Determine how far you need to hold the microphone - for example, in academic singing, on high notes, take it away.
Step 7
For aggressive singing (eg rap), use microphones that can withstand high SPL (at least 120 dB) with high impedance.
