A pom-pom blanket is a real fluffy miracle that you can make with your own hands. It can be made for a very small child in the form of a swaddling blanket. And if you wish, you can create a blanket blanket for a bed or sofa.
What is required to make a pom-pom blanket?
If you decide to make a cozy blanket from small pom-poms, it is better to use acrylic yarn. It is acrylic that is a particularly light and soft material that does not cause allergic reactions. This product is perfect for a child.
First you need to prepare a special frame with self-tapping nails and scissors. And of course, you can't do without thick and soft yarn of two colors, 300 and 400 grams each. If you want to make a blanket in many colors, use yarn of several colors.
Creative manufacturing process
First of all, you need to make a frame from a fiberboard sheet. Its size must necessarily correspond to the size of the future product. If you do not want to break the symmetry of the fragments, do not use thin plywood to create the frame. Self-tapping screws should be screwed in at a distance of up to 5 centimeters.
Now take the yarn you have chosen and start securing it vertically to the frame. Yarn should be fastened from the very first stud. Then move from the top studs to the bottom studs and vice versa. Gently secure the yarn until you reach the last nail. Then fix it horizontally in the same way.
Try to make more layers so that the blanket is thick and fluffy enough. Ideally, there should be at least fifty layers. By the way, if you take fifty threads, you get one hundred layers. The middle section should be marked with a different color of yarn. The other yarn should be started from the twenty-first layer.
After you finish making all the layers horizontally and vertically, tie the yarn tightly at the intersections. It remains to carefully cut the thirty top threads to get pom-poms. If you used yarn of the same color, you will need to count the layers before cutting. The layers of yarn that are left uncut will form the base of the pom pom rug.
After completing all the above manipulations, remove the product from the frame and cut the yarn between the studs. Remember to line up the brushes carefully. So we got a nice acrylic blanket with pompoms. It can be additionally insulated for the winter period. To do this, you just need to put the blanket on a bike base in a contrasting color. It will look very original. In a similar way, you can make a good pom-pom rug for a nursery.
