Step 1
For the first time, subtitles appeared in France, in films for the deaf. Over time, films with subtitles began to be viewed and heard: it turned out that the creation of the audio track of the translation was more expensive than using the text at the bottom of the screen.

It's not just cost that affects the use of subtitles. Censorship of many countries (France, Germany, USA) prohibit translation of foreign tapes to support domestic producers of video content.
Step 3
All subtitles can be divided into two categories - "embedded" in the video track and embedded in a separate file. It is not hard to guess that the easiest way is to change the latter.
Step 4
Change the font in the video player. One of the popular ones, Media Player Classic, for example, has an option "Subtitle Styles" in the Play menu. Go to this section, change the styles, size, color and / or style (italic, bold) of the font.
Step 5
If the previous method did not help, you can use the software for working with text track files. The Subtitle Workshop subtitle editor allows you to create subtitles from scratch as well as edit existing ones. Including in it you can change the subtitle font.
Step 6
Download the program from the Urusoft.net website, install it. From the File menu, select Open File. Most often, subtitle files are in txt or srt format. In the file that opens, you can experiment with the typeface, size, color, background. In the same File menu, don't forget to Save File.
Step 7
The most difficult task is to change the subtitles that are part of the video (hard-subtitles, "hard" subtitles). It is impossible to do this directly, as in the previous methods.
Step 8
In a video editor (for example, one of the popular, Pinnacle Studio) you can trim the video file itself or "close" it with a new subtitle track from the file. It takes a lot of effort to get a professional look. You can find a text track in a file on one of the services popular with movie lovers (Subs.com.ru, for example).
