You turned on your camera and started shooting with it, expecting great results. But for some reason a lot of rather boring and monotonous pictures come out? Dont be upset. There are some basic rules for artistic photography that will allow you to get great shots pretty quickly.
Correctly selected mode
As a rule, beginner amateur photographers shoot in automatic mode. This means that characteristics such as aperture and shutter speed, the camera will expose itself, measuring the lighting conditions. Many cameras have special modes such as portrait, landscape, group shooting and others. They are a little better suited to specific plots.
However, if you really want to get photos with beautiful color, correct lighting and high definition, then you will have to master the manual settings. Read the instructions for your camera, it always describes in detail how to correctly set these parameters. Remember that even the best shot in terms of subject matter and composition will not be beautiful if it does not come out well in terms of sharpness or exposure.
Composition
Composition is how you position objects within the frame. You can even use the rules of composition in automatic mode, and you will immediately get good pictures. There are some simple rules.
Don't place the horizon in the middle. It almost always looks boring.
Use the rule of thirds: mentally divide the space into three equal parts horizontally and three parts vertically. For clarity, try to draw it on paper, you will immediately understand what it is about. Place the horizon at a distance of a third from the top or bottom of the frame, and the most significant and meaningful elements - at the intersections of the lines - it is there that the so-called visual centers of the picture are located.
Try not to overwhelm the horizon. This means that while shooting, you should keep the camera parallel to the ground, then the horizon is flat, and does not fall to the side by a few degrees. Typically, cameras can be configured to display guides in the viewfinder to guide you.
Of course, you can position the horizon at an angle if this is part of your artistic design. Usually the best value is around 30 degrees or more.
Genre shooting
If you are photographing a portrait of a person, then do not be afraid to get closer to him. The face and shoulders should occupy most of the frame, but place your eyes near the visual centers.
When shooting a landscape, try to capture as many shots as possible in the frame. This means that you can include both close-spaced and distant elements. For example, a small flower against the backdrop of a tall building will add depth and contrast to the image.
