The parsley doll, or as it is also called, the glove doll, is one of the oldest components of traditional puppet theater. The main feature of this doll is that it practically does not have a body - only a head and arms. The rest of the structure is an empty cover that is put on the puppeteer's hand, due to which the doll can move its head and arms. Due to the simplicity of its design, parsley is ideal for creating a home puppet show.

Instructions
Step 1
Making a parsley doll is so simple that even young children can be involved in this activity. For them, this can be a wonderful handicraft lesson and at the same time an exciting experience. In the form of a parsley doll, you can make not only human characters, but also various animals. The main difficulty lies in the manufacture of the heads.
Step 2
Parsley heads can be made in several ways: sewn from fabric or fur, made from papier-mâché or polymer clay. In some cases, ready-made heads can be used. For example, small stuffed toys sold in children's stores can be used to create animal dolls.
Step 3
Whichever method of making the head you choose, it is important to remember that it is necessary not only to carefully attach the head to the future body, but also insert a small cardboard tube into it for the puppeteer's finger: a hole must be left at the base of the head for it.
Step 4
Hands are easiest to sew from plain calico or calico of pale shades, and the legs of animals can be made from pieces of faux fur, soft fleece or other fleecy fabric. Cardboard tubes for fingers are also inserted into the handles-paws, as well as into the head. The tubes are easy to make from thin, easily bendable cardboard. They should be approximately 5 cm long and 2 cm in diameter.
Step 5
The easiest way to make a pattern for the torso is with your own hand, tracing it around the contour with a pencil on a piece of paper. In this case, the thumb and middle finger should be wide apart, since this will be the span of the doll's arms. The resulting contour should be aligned and cut, then transferred to the fabric and made a blank. It is best to sew a torso cover from some kind of dense, non-crumbling fabric that keeps its shape well. The lower edge of the glove body should be hemmed.
Step 6
The head and arms are sewn to the finished torso, turned inside out. Then the prepared tubes are inserted into them and the whole toy is turned inside out on the front side. The resulting blank can be decorated according to your own choice: embroider or draw a face, make hair from knitting threads, mouline thread or tow, sew an additional bright dress or cap. All possibilities here are limited only by your imagination and desire.
