Using a stencil and a special matting paste (which you can find in any specialty store), you can apply a wide variety of designs to glass. Matte patterns are great for decorating doors, mirrors, lanterns, dishes. Glass with this pattern becomes translucent, which is required in most cases. To apply a pattern to glass, you can use the following tips.

Instructions

Step 1

First, you need to prepare the items that will be used in the formation of the pattern: masking tape, aerosol glue, special paste, a spatula for application, glass and a stencil. In addition, you may need a regular sponge in the final stage.

Step 2

After picking up the glass, wipe it thoroughly with a clean cloth. In this case, you do not need to use any additional means, just wipe the surface from obvious dirt.

Step 3

Then you need to evenly cover the back of the stencil with glue. To avoid staining your workplace, place the stencil on a piece of paper or newspaper. Wait a few minutes for the adhesive to stabilize on the surface. The more time you wait, the less marks will remain on the glass surface.

Step 4

The next step is to glue the stencil to the glass. Try to do this as carefully as possible without missing a single edge of the drawing. The neatly the film is glued, the smoother the edges of the image will be. It is advisable to glue the stencil to the glass with “blotting” movements with a clean cloth, so as not to displace the pattern and not to smear the open areas of the glass. If you are not confident in your own abilities, then for greater reliability, you can glue the glass around the stencil.

Step 5

Next, apply the paste. In no case do not save, whatever remains, you can easily put back into the bank. Therefore, taking more paste, apply it in an even layer on the glass with smooth movements. The best results will be obtained with a plastic trowel. Then you need to wait about 15 minutes. Then collect all surplus back into the jar.

Step 6

Rinse off whatever remains on the glass under water. If it doesn't work, then you can use a sponge. It is quite easy to remove the paste, it is water-soluble. Wipe the glass gently. As a result, you will get a translucent drawing.
