Panicle hydrangea is absolutely winter-hardy in central Russia. It is a shrub up to one and a half meters high. The Far East is considered its homeland. The wild species of this plant can be seen in China and Japan. It forms large inflorescences, up to 30 cm. Easily propagated by cuttings. It is best to plant them in the shade.
Instructions
Step 1
Flower buds from this hydrangea are formed on the growths of the current year, therefore, unlike the large-leaved hydrangea, there is nothing to save here. So there is no reason for shelter for the winter.
Step 2
As far as trimming is concerned, it is certainly useful, although not required. However, this optionality applies only to a young bush, the old one needs rejuvenation. You can not do pruning in early spring, panicle hydrangea reacts painfully to it. A good time is precisely at the end of the season. Cut off the inflorescences, slightly grabbing part of the shoot, and remove the weak, thin, sticking to the ground and thickening branches. And only if the bush is ankle, shorten it radically.
Step 3
If you didn't manage to cut the hydrangea at the end of the season, then take your time in the spring, wait for the buds to swell thoroughly on the shoots.
