The monstera has a big advantage in reproduction - the plant takes root easily. To propagate a monster, you can choose any part of the plant. At its core, a monstera is a tropical vine that tries to survive in every possible way.
Reproduction by apical cuttings. In this method, the top of an adult plant is cut off for rooting. In order for the cutting to take root, it is necessary to put it in water and wait for the root processes to appear. There should be at least three of them - this way the monstera will spend less time and energy on rooting. And this will speed up the appearance of the first shoots.
Propagation by stem cuttings. You will need a part of the stem where there are at least two buds. You can simply put this piece of plant on the ground, you can use a light earthy mixture and even a hydrogel. The stalk must be laid so that one of its buds touches the ground. It does not need to be sprinkled with earth - watering and spraying will be enough. You can make a greenhouse - an ordinary jar is suitable for it. The plant is covered with it - this way it is possible to maintain the desired climate around the planted cuttings. From time to time, the jar is slightly raised to allow the plant to air a little. The stalk is transplanted to a permanent place when roots appear.
Reproduction of monstera by air layers. This method is considered more difficult to implement, but the results are much better than others. First you need to find an escape from which aerial roots extend. They need to be provided with moisture - for example, constantly sprayed or tied to something like a tampon, which can be watered from time to time. So roots are grown on the cut, and the cutting is not cut off from the stem. When the roots are strong enough, an incision is made on the stem, after which the layers are separated and transplanted into a pot.
Sometimes flower growers manage to grow a monster from a leaf. To do this, the leaf is placed in a container with water and kept there until enough roots appear. After that, you can plant the sheet in the ground.
