Engraving is one of the oldest forms of art, which is traditionally considered difficult and inaccessible for an ordinary person who does not have specific knowledge and art education. In fact, with a little effort, you can learn how to make prints at home using linoleum and special cutters as a base. Linoleum cutters cut out lines and silhouettes that form the future engraving, and then the workpiece is covered with paint and printed on paper. The cut figures and silhouettes will turn out to be white fragments of the engraving, and the protruding parts of the linoleum will turn out to be black.

Instructions
Step 1
Prepare a piece of smooth and even linoleum and special cutters - shtikhels. Put your thumb on the workpiece, and in the remaining fingers, hold the cutter and make cuts in the surface of the linoleum.
Step 2
To make your engraving more accurate and accurate, first apply the contours to be cut on the linoleum with ink or felt-tip pen. By using cutters of different thicknesses, you can achieve an interesting and varied engraving texture. After you have cut out everything you wanted on the linoleum, the resulting cliché needs to be covered with paint.
Step 3
To do this, take a good hard roller and black oil paint. Apply paint to a sheet of glass and gently roll it over the glass with a roller. After covering the roller with paint, run it over the linoleum blank, adding paint to the roller as needed, until all the clichés are covered with paint.
Step 4
Take a sheet of strong, thin paper and place it neatly on the plate without moving or turning the sheet. Holding the workpiece with your hand, gently rub the sheet of paper against the linoleum using a dry, hard roller or spoon.
Step 5
After ironing the entire sheet with a spoon, remove it. You have received your first print - your first engraving. If you wish, you can re-paint the cliché and make a second engraving of the same type on a second sheet of paper.
Step 6
To remove paint from a cliché, soak a cloth in a paint thinner and wipe the blank.
