The satin ribbon belt is suitable for wedding and evening dress, it can also be worn with pastoral style clothes. The belt can be in the form of a simple ribbon, as well as braided, it can be decorated with embroidery, ornamentation from beads.

Instructions
Step 1
Measure around your waist. For the simplest ribbon belt, you need an accurate measurement. To it you need to add 2 cm for processing the edges. It is better to take a wide tape, 3-5 cm. Cut a piece of the desired size from it. Overcast short cuts with a frequent buttonhole seam or overlock.
Step 2
Sew the half of the symmetrical buckle to the belt. It can be in the form of a butterfly, a flower, etc. Sew on so that the seam from the outside is either invisible or looks like a finishing line. Blind stitch and back stitch are suitable, with a row of stitches on the right side.
Step 3
Baste the other half of the buckle. Try what you get. The belt should fit snugly around your waist, but not obstruct your breathing. Correct the product if necessary. Sew on the other half of the buckle. This belt, made of a wide white ribbon and a gold or silver buckle, will look good with a lightweight wedding dress. The tape can be single-sided.
Step 4
It is better to make a braided belt from a double-sided tape 1 - 1, 5 cm wide. It is better to take a double-sided tape because it turns over when weaving, and this should not be noticeable. Measure around your waist. Divide by 3. Add 1/3 to your waist. Add a couple of inches more for processing. This is the minimum length of tape you will need. It is better to add a few more centimeters just in case. If the belt will be tied, add another 20 cm.
Step 5
To weave a 3-stitch belt, place the ribbons next to each other so the edges line up. The short ends can be secured with a pin or a few stitches, but it is better to use an adhesive interlining for this purpose. If the belt comes with a buckle, start weaving right from the junction. Weaving differs from ordinary braids only in that the ribbons must be constantly straightened, they should not be crumpled. Tie to the end, fasten the ends in the same way as at the very beginning, and sew the symmetrical buckle in the same way as when making a belt from one ribbon.
Step 6
If the belt is tied, you need to fasten the pieces of the tape not at the edge, but at a distance of about 10 cm. In this case, it is better to sew them firmly or knot them. Weaving must be finished at the same distance from the other edge, securely fastening the stitches so that they do not unravel. You can put wooden beads on the ends of the ribbons.
Step 7
A braided four-strand belt looks more sophisticated. Before starting to weave it, fasten the ribbons in pairs. Place the pairs at right angles to each other (short cuts of one pair will coincide with the edge of the other). Pin off the ribbons. The one at the left edge, draw under the second, over the third, under the fourth. Having brought it to the right edge, pin it to the adjacent tape. On the left edge, you now have another ribbon. Draw it in the same way as the first - under the next one, over the third, under the fourth. Weave this way to the end. Pin the edges of the ribbons together and sew on the clasp.
