The importance of the role of a particular actor (foreground, background, episode, extras) is determined by the experience and name of the actor on the one hand and the director's opinion on the other. And the performance depends entirely on the actor.

Step 1
Read the entire script. Determine your character's attitude towards the rest of the play. Mark the details and moments in the script where you want to demonstrate the character of the hero with special gestures and movements.
Step 2
It is generally considered useful to completely rewrite the script by hand, leaving some space between the lines. So, firstly, you will learn the text faster, and secondly, you can add your marks, movements, and other important details to the empty space.
Step 3
Analyze the similarities and differences between your character and the character of the hero. How would you act in certain circumstances? How would you feel about your actions? Play each scene separately
Step 4
Break the role into stages. Analyze character development. With all your might, delve into his character, defend his views and beliefs. Act as if you are this hero, and not playing him in the theater or cinema.
Step 5
Listen to the director's directions. Change your behavior according to his requirements. But, if you consider the requirements unacceptable, express and substantiate your point of view. Perhaps you will find a compromise or even completely defend your opinion.
Step 6
Be your character. But only on stage or in the frame. At the end of the work, become yourself again and act as you see fit for yourself.
