As the famous American screen master Spencer Tracy said: "All an actor needs is to learn the role and not bump into furniture." The famous artist, of course, was joking, but this joke also has its own grain of truth. You still have to learn the role.
Instructions
Step 1
To begin with, read the entire text carefully several times, including the remarks of your partners. Understand the meaning of what is happening in the play. Mark unfamiliar words, find out their meaning and correct pronunciation. Plan your work in relation to the time you have. Considering the possibility of unforeseen circumstances, always reserve some time for yourself so that you can start memorizing directly.
Step 2
In order to quickly learn the text, you need to follow a few simple rules. Keep in mind that in the first 10-20 minutes of mental work, it is difficult to switch from previous activities. Therefore, prepare for memorizing the text in advance. For example, reread what you taught the day before. When memorizing a role, do not alternate this work with similar ones. It is better to fill the breaks you take with as much non-intellectual activity as possible (exercise, walk). The best way to forget the text you just learned is to try to memorize other material immediately afterwards. Avoid distractions as much as possible while memorizing the role. If you immediately answer the called phone or answer the person who has addressed, then it is very difficult to return to work. Get rid of all distractions: turn off your phone, ask friends or family members not to bother you. What if this is not possible? Let's say the phone rings. Do not pick up the phone immediately. Let him ring several times, while you fix what you are doing now. Read the last sentence again, repeat the memorized phrase aloud, etc. Now answer the call. Use the unfinished effect. Don't memorize to the end. Put some of your work aside for the morning. Then the psychological stress caused by the unfinished action will strengthen the memorization.
Step 3
In addition to the text itself, you also need to learn the moments of exit and introduction. In order not to teach other people's roles, agree with someone from the household. Have him read the script, excluding your lines, so that you remember when you need to react. Try to study in front of the mirror in order to work out the emotions. Do not use only your experience, read several books on the theme of the play, in order to understand the peculiarities of the psychology of your character. Memorize all gestures, movements and actions with props directly during rehearsals, taking into account the movements of your partners, and the location of the scenery.
