Counter-Strike 1.6 has a very flexible and easily modifiable engine that allows users to make tons of changes to the game. Keeping the gameplay in its original form, any user can change the appearance of models, certain types of weapons, and even re-sound the project with his own hand.

Instructions

Step 1

Select the sound you want to replace. Open the game directory and find the / cstrike folder. It stores all the files used, including sounds. In the maps directory you can find music playing on levels (see cs_italy); in the sound directory - radio commands and other standard sound design; in media - music in the main menu. You can find specific sounds by simply going through all the audio files.

Step 2

Remember the format, name and, preferably, the duration of the audio file to be replaced.

Step 3

Prepare a new sound to go into the game. Name the file with it in the same way as the "original" item found earlier. Try to keep your sound not much longer or shorter than the original. There is no difference for the game engine, but a long and often repeated piece of music will quickly get bored and, moreover, can be layered on itself.

Step 4

Make sure the replacement file is in the same format as the file you are replacing. If this is not the case, you can change the format using a converter program, for example, Any Audio Converter.

Step 5

Move the old sound file to any folder, and put your own in its place. Start the game - the sound will be replaced.

Step 6

You can insert your own sounds into the voice chat (they will be played as a microphone speech). In this role, the players are extremely popular with "cult" quotes, like "But I'm also talented" from the cartoon "Kid and Carlson". Save the desired audio clip to the / cstrike folder.

Step 7

Go into the game, open the command line. This can be done by pressing the ~ key. Enter the following into the menu that appears: alias -gg "voice_loopback 0; #fromfile 0; -voicerecord" and, with the next command, bind "F3" "+ gg". In this case, instead of a hash without a space, indicate the name of the desired fragment. Now every time you press F3, the voice chat will be activated, and the desired sound will be played in it.
