Anyone who has ever painted floors knows that there is no better paint than oil paint for this. It is beautiful, smooth, shiny, and even inexpensive. One thing is bad - it dries for a long time. However, there are ways to speed up this process too.

Step 1
The speed of drying of oil paint depends more on external factors, ambient temperature, humidity, illumination, as well as on its formulation. The paint hardens not due to the evaporation of moisture from it (there is none), but due to the oxidation of the oil film. Therefore, in order to speed up the drying process of oil paint, it is necessary to speed up the process of interaction of the paint with atmospheric oxygen.
Step 2
To accelerate the formation of a tough oil film, apply a thin layer of paint with a roller or brush to the previously prepared surface. The paint dries in about 24 hours. If necessary, unpainted or uneven coverage, repeat the procedure.
Step 3
Heating the oil paint film can accelerate oxidation processes. For example, many aspiring artists dry their paintings on central heating radiators. But this is a special case. Just place it in a room where there is a freshly painted oil-painted surface of the air heater or heater. By the way, heating oil paint increases its strength and resistance to alkalis, in other words, soap. The only caution is do not leave heating devices unattended to avoid a fire.
Step 4
There are also chemical methods to speed up the drying of oil paints. This is the addition of so-called driers to the paint - drying accelerators. Add a small amount (according to the instructions on the package) to the paint can and mix thoroughly. Desiccants allow painted surfaces to dry much faster and do not affect the quality of the oil paint. In general, as experts advise, before you buy oil paint, read everything that is written on its packaging. A good oil paint contains at least 10 ingredients.
