Instructions

Step 1

Take four measurements with a tape measure: dress length (measured from the bottom of the bodice to the desired length), bust, underbust and bodice length. An open dress can be sewn from any lightweight fabric. For example, from chiffon, light knitwear, silk. Cutting for a dress can be done directly on the fabric.

Step 2

Cut out a rectangle on the fabric, the width of which is equal to the girth of the chest, and the length, the desired length of the bodice, multiplied by two. Since the fabric is lightweight, double the bodice. Cut out the second rectangle with a width? chest girth plus 15-20 cm and a length equal to the length of the dress from the bodice. There will be two such rectangles for the front and back. If you want the skirt of your dress to be two-layer, then cut out two more of these rectangles.

Step 3

For the strap, we cut out a rectangle about 6 cm wide and 70 cm long. When finished, the strap will be 3 cm wide. Leave seam allowances of 1-1.5 cm.

Step 4

First, sew the details of the bodice and skirt, so that later you can work with them as with one canvas. Turn out the details and iron. Stitch down the middle of the back and front of the bodice and pull together to the desired length. On the skirt of the dress, hem the bottom and stitch the side seams. Then stitch the top skirt to the bottom. Run a stitch along the top of the skirt and pull it so that the width of the skirt is equal to the width of the bodice, and stitch the skirt to the bodice. Leave a small open area in the front, then insert the strap into this hole.

Step 5

Sew the shoulder strap, turn it out, iron it and insert it into the unsewn area. Then cross it and sew, adjusting the length beforehand. The strap seam will be located at the back of the neck. A zipper can be sewn into the side for easy dressing. It remains to decorate the new thing and put it on!

Step 6

You can get many models of one dress, you just need to sew it from different fabrics. A variety of tops can be sewn in the same way, you just need to shorten the length, and instead of a dress, you will get a fashionable summer top.
