In autumn, spring and winter, parents of babies face a problem - how to bring a stroller with dirty wheels to an apartment. If there were no special wheel covers included with the stroller, do not be discouraged! They are easy to sew even for a person who has no practice in sewing.

It is necessary

  • - bologna fabric;
  • - threads;
  • - cord;
  • - lanyard clip;
  • - pin;
  • - rubber;
  • - basting needle;
  • - impregnation for fabric.

Instructions

Step 1

Get the right fabric. The covers will come into contact with wet and dirty wheels, so a waterproof cloth is needed. At the same time, it should be quite thin and well tightened with an elastic band. Give preference to bolognese or similar fabric.

Step 2

Measure the wheel diameter of your stroller before cutting out the fabric. Cut out circles about 10-15 cm larger in diameter than the stroller wheels. You will need as many circles as the covers you want to sew. Use a string or thick thread to make the circles even. The length of the thread should be equal to the radius of the circles. Attach one end of the thread to the fabric. Using the thread as a compass, draw a circle.

Step 3

Open the drawstring. Measure the circumference of the stroller wheels. Cut rectangles out of the fabric, the length of which should be 2-3 cm longer than the circumference of the wheels. This is necessary in order for the cover to slide freely over the wheel. The width of the rectangle is about 4-5 cm. The number of rectangles must match the number of cut circles.

Step 4

Additional processing of the cuts is not required if you are sewing from bolognese fabric. If the fabric is fraying, be sure to sew the edges of the parts with an overlock or a regular sewing machine with a zigzag stitch. If the fabric does not burn, but melts, you can gently burn the edges instead of processing.

Step 5

For circles, fold the edges by about 1 cm. Gather the fabric lightly so that the circumference of the circles is equal to the length of the rectangular pieces. Bend the rectangles in half and sweep. Now put the circle and rectangular piece together. You can also overlay a circle on top to make the seam more neat. Sweep away. Sew a seam with the sewing machine. Remove all basting threads.

Step 6

Insert the cord inside the drawstring. For convenience, use a regular pin. Attach it to one end of the cord and push it through the drawstring. When the pin comes out of the fabric at the other end, gently pull the cord out, unhook the pin. Now attach the retainer to the ends of the cord. Instead of a cord, you can use a regular linen rubber band. But remember that the length of the elastic should allow the cover to slide freely over a dirty wheel.

Step 7

The covers are ready. For ease of use, treat the covers with a special impregnation for shoes and clothes. This way they will retain moisture and dirt even more reliably.
