Placing an ordinary egg in a bottle is not easy, but if you do very light manipulations, you can do it without difficulty. The question may arise: why put an egg on the bottom of the bottle? It might just be a curious experience, fun at a party, a trick for the kids, or a science experiment in class. Either way, your viewers, both small and large, will love it!
For the experiment, you will need: 1 boiled egg, 1 glass bottle with a fairly wide neck, but still smaller than the diameter of the egg, matches or a lighter, and a small piece of paper. Do not conduct this experiment near flammable substances and do not let young children do it on their own, without the participation of adults.
Instructions
1. Peel the boiled egg. Otherwise, it will take more time and effort for the shell to crack and the egg is in the bottle. Some take raw eggs for this experiment, but it is still better to boil them first.
2. Lightly light a match and light the edge of a small piece of paper from it. Immediately dip the burning paper into the bottle. Do not take a piece of paper that is too large or too small, otherwise it will either not fit into the bottle when it is lit, or it may burn your fingers. It is best to fold it into an oblong bundle.
3. Place an egg on the neck of the bottle and observe. After a while, the egg will literally be sucked into the bottle! Accept congratulations from the grateful viewers, the experiment has been successfully completed. True, now you have to somehow get the egg out of the bottle, try experimenting with it yourself.
Explanation of the experiment
In practice, everything looks simpler than trying to explain these processes. Nevertheless, there is nothing complicated in the physical laws that explain this experiment.
When heated, any substance, including air, expands, and when cooled, it contracts. When burning paper hits the bottle, it heats up the air, and it expands. But later, an egg appears on the neck of the bottle, access to oxygen is blocked, and the paper goes out. This means that the air in the bottle without a heat source cools and begins to compress. A difference in pressure is created on the egg, the compressed air in the bottle pulls it in.
