Weekends in the summer seem to be designed not to stay at home. In the capital, there are many reasons to spend them more profitably than sitting in front of the TV. In July, Moscow hosts the most interesting exhibitions, and you should have time to see them.
Until July 22, one of the most popular photo exhibitions, World Press Photo, can be seen at the Vetoshny art center. It is part of this professional competition for the best reporter photography. The exhibition can show quite "tough" shots taken in hot spots, so it is better not to take children to it. But adults will certainly get a lot of strong impressions and pleasure.

In the "Gallery of art of the countries of Europe and America of the XIX-XX centuries" until July 29, an amazing exhibition "Imaginary Museum" is being held. Its idea is quite original - the famous canvases that arrived in Moscow from 27 museums of the world are not hung together, but are scattered over the permanent exhibition, which is located in two buildings. It turned out to be an imaginary museum with the most complete exposition, which includes artistic masterpieces of different genres and trends. At the exhibition you can admire paintings by Dürer, Van Dyck, Bosch, El Greco, Velazquez, Gainsborough, Courbet, Manet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Modigliani, Magritte.
The Historical Museum hosts the exhibition “Catherine II. The path to the throne”, which will undoubtedly be of interest to everyone who loves history. The exhibition covers the period of the formation of the Russian ruler and her transformation from a regular German princess into a great empress - 1740-1760. Many items of that time are presented here: clothes, dishes, snuff boxes, among which there are even personal belongings of Catherine.
The chambers of the Kremlin have brought unique relics belonging to the knights of the Order of Malta, which has a 900-year history. The exhibition presents a large number of unique in its beauty and historical value Maltese orders and regalia, knightly armor and vestments.
