It is necessary

  • - plywood;
  • - veneer;
  • - synthetic glue;
  • - paint;
  • - furniture varnish.

Instructions

Step 1

If you are a beginner carpenter, it is better to use simple methods of making a chess board. The choice of the basis for the product is great. You can take a sheet of plywood. If a light laminate remains from the repair, then it will also work.

Step 2

Cut out a 43x43 cm square from any of the above material. If you want to get a non-standard chessboard as a result, then the size can be smaller or larger. The main thing is to get a square.

Step 3

Take masking tape, which is 3 cm wide (it could also be left over from repairs). First, paste over the outer part of the square around the perimeter. Subsequently, at this place, using a felt-tip pen, you will write Latin letters on one side, and numbers on the other.

Step 4

After you have secured the tape around the perimeter edge, take another masking tape, 5 cm wide, and stick the strips of it onto the board. They should fit snugly together and run parallel. Each tape begins and ends near the scotch tape, which was pasted over along the perimeter.

Step 5

Take a ruler and pencil. On each tape, measure and draw stripes to divide it into 5x5 cm squares. Use a sharp knife to walk along the top and bottom of the first square in the upper left corner. Pick it up with a knife and remove. Next, remove the square one below it.

Step 6

In the same way, in a checkerboard pattern, remove all the squares one after another. There should be 4 empty cells in each row. Take a can of black paint and gently spray the contents over a DIY checkerboard surface.

Step 7

When the paint dries well, peel off all the tape. In the place where it was fixed along the perimeter, use a black felt-tip pen to apply the numbers from 1 to 8 on two parallel sides. On the two perpendiculars with this, write the Latin capital letters - from A to H. Cover the entire board with clear wood varnish.

Step 8

Another simple method is burning. Take square plywood of the desired size, also spill into squares. For each cell that should become dark, bring a burning tool. First, circle the perimeter of the cell with it. And then - cauterize it all. A square is burned out in rows. Work begins at the top of the cell and ends at the bottom.

Step 9

If you can handle a more complex way of making a checkerboard, then take a piece of plywood of the right size. Cut 8 strips from dark veneer and the same amount from light veneer. Take gummed tape and fasten all these stripes from the inside so that light alternates with dark.

Step 10

Lay them vertically and cut into horizontal strips. Each got 4 light and 4 dark cells. Attach these tapes to the plywood with synthetic glue. Write the numbers and letters with a felt-tip pen, and nail the edging strips to the edge of the board.
