Polymer clay is an excellent plastic material from which you can make an endless number of a wide variety of beautiful gizmos. Working with it is quite simple, about the same as sculpting from plasticine, so both adults and children will like working with plastic.
It is necessary
- - a set of polymer clay;
- - mirror or glass;
- - stationery knife;
- - a toothpick;
- - bake;
- - acrylic paints;
- - sandpaper;
- - water-based varnish.
Instructions
Step 1
Get polymer clay. Material from different manufacturers is on sale. For beginners, a set of brands "Tsvetik", "Hobby", "Artifact", etc. is suitable. This polymer clay is made in Russia, so it is relatively inexpensive. Experienced craftsmen recommend working with polymer clay from Fimo, Cernit and Sculpey.
Step 2
Prepare a glass or mirror surface. It can be any piece of glass or mirror placed on the table. Take a piece of plastic, tear off the required amount of clay from it and start kneading it in your hands, when the material has softened enough, start sculpting.
Step 3
The simplest thing is to make beads from which you can make a necklace, choker or bracelet. Roll the softened plastic into a sausage on glass. Cut it into pieces of equal size.
Step 4
Form each piece into a ball or cylinder. Use a toothpick to make a hole in the middle of the part. You can apply texture with a toothpick: points and lines.
Step 5
To make beads of different colors, make sausages from plastic of different colors. For this, you can use clay in several shades. Then twist them into a tourniquet and roll them back into a sausage. Make beads as described above.
Step 6
You can sculpt beads of completely different shapes. To do this, roll out the polymer clay into a sheet (for this you can use, for example, a bottle of deodorant) 0.5 - 1 cm thick and cut out the parts of the required shape. Make a hole in each with a toothpick.
Step 7
Apply the texture to the beads by stamping. To do this, use a variety of textured objects, for example, a walnut, a bead with a beautiful textured pattern, a sponge or a brush.
Step 8
Start heat treatment of parts. On the packaging of polymer clay there are detailed instructions for baking plastic. Since each type has its own characteristics, the instructions given by the manufacturer should be strictly adhered to.
Step 9
After baking, remove the baking sheet with the pieces and let them cool completely. Then proceed with further processing. Sand all unevenness with sandpaper, rinse under running water to remove dust and dirt.
Step 10
The product can be painted with acrylics or gouache. After the paint has dried, coat the beads with a water-based varnish. This will give them a special shine. String the beads onto waxed thread or a hat gum.
