A person who has decided to take up forging often faces the problem of acquiring the right equipment. Often, the forge, which is used to heat the workpieces, has to be made independently. You can make a small, easy-to-use furnace that quickly heats the metal to the required temperature.

It is necessary

  • - steel pipe;
  • - steel sheet;
  • - car wiper motor;
  • - duralumin.

Instructions

Step 1

Construct a frame from a steel pipe. Place a baking sheet on it, which is made of sheet steel with a thickness of 1.5 mm. The size should be such that three refractory bricks can be laid tightly across it. In the bricks, it is necessary to hew out a ledge to install the grate, made of an 8 mm thick steel plate. Immerse the bricks in water for a while before processing them.

Step 2

Provide a hole with beaded edges in the metal baking sheet under the wire shelf. Place a piece of pipe O 0.8 cm on them. An air duct must be connected to the side of the pipe, and a removable cover must be made at the bottom to remove ash.

Step 3

On the opposite end of the air duct attach a cylinder O 15 and 10 cm high from a sheet of steel 0.8 mm thick. Close one end of the cylinder with a plug, and from the other end install the car wiper motor, attaching it to the cylinder walls with clamps. Put a wheel with 6 duralumin blades on its shaft.

Step 4

Install a rheostat to regulate the blower air flow. Its base is cut from an eight-millimeter sheet of asbestos cement. For resistance, you can take a 127 V nichrome wire, like an electric stove. The slider should be made of an elastic brass plate. The rheostat is closed from above with an aluminum cover.

Step 5

Use coal as fuel for the furnace. First, light the wood chips on the grate, then turn on the fan at low speed. Add sticks as the flame grows. When they light up, start adding charcoal.

Step 6

If instead of coal you are going to use only wood waste, a steel ring of Ø 20 cm and a height of 15 cm should be placed on top of the furnace. Two vertical cuts should be made on the walls of the ring on opposite sides. Wooden bars as they burn will sink down, charring. Under the charcoal layer at the bottom of the ring, a high temperature is generated, sufficient for operation. Install an exhaust hood over the mountain.
