Nowadays, kokoshniks are not an obligatory item in the wardrobe of any girl, except, perhaps, the Snow Maiden. And before the girls, wishing to get married, asked for mercy from the Mother of God with the words “cover my little head with a kokoshnichkom”.

Instructions

Step 1

Sketch the headdress. The shape of the kokoshnik can be rounded at the top or domed. There are also one-horned kokoshniks that must be covered with a veil. Reflect in the drawing that the headpiece consists of a dense frame covered with fabric. This whole structure is sewn to the cap, attached to the back of the head with ribbons. Try to match the size of the kokoshnik to the size of the model's head and shoulders.

Step 2

Draw a bead or pearl mesh that covers the subject's forehead. This element of the kokoshnik is called the headdress. Draw a bead twist that looks like a basket weaving in a basketball hoop. At the level of the eyebrows, finish off the eyelet with beads that are larger in size than those used in the mesh.

Step 3

Draw the flowing strands of pearls on the sides of the kokoshnik. Usually they are of the same length, but there are such headdresses in which the threads that are further from the model's neck are longer than those that are closer. Draw larger pearls at the ends.

Step 4

Draw wide ribbons securing the kokoshnik to the head. They were usually made from satin. Draw a wide bow at the back of the model's first vertebra. The ribbons can be decorated with gold embroidery, use an ornament of leaves and flowers as a pattern.

Step 5

Decorate the sketch for the main part of the headdress. Usually, when decorating kokoshniks, pearls, beads, gold threads, semi-precious stones were used. They were positioned so that they formed a symmetrical pattern with respect to the central vertical line. Images of animals were not chosen as an ornament for this piece of clothing. Traditionally, kokoshniks were decorated with schematic images of flowers.

Step 6

Color in the sketch of the kokoshnik. Remember that a pearl headdress was worn at a wedding, the rest of the time they used cheaper beaded ones. Make sure to match the colors of the main part of the kokoshnik and the ribbons.
