Instructions
Step 1
For knitting with double loops, thick threads are needed. If it is cotton yarn, then it should not be thinner than a garus. For a sweater, choose a thick, well-spun wool or semi-wool.
Step 2
For a sample, tie a chain of 20 stitches. Knit 1 row with double crochets or knit several rows with the pattern with which you are going to combine double loops. Knitting patterns with combinations of different patterns is in any case useful, this makes it possible to trace how well the knits are combined and how they affect each other.
Step 3
Tie 2 chain stitches. Work 1 double crochet. Insert your crochet hook into the space between the stitch of the previous row where you just knitted the new stitch and the next. Grab the working thread and pull it through this hole. Without knitting the stitches on the hook, insert the hook again into the next space between the posts of the previous row. Pull out the working thread in the same way. You should have 3 loops on your crochet: the one that formed when knitting the double crochet, and 2 new ones. Yarn over and pull the loop through the ones on the hook.
Step 4
Continue knitting this way to the end of the row. You should get a relief rhythmic pattern. Turn the work over, tie 2 loops on the rise. Knit the rest of the loops in the same way as in the previous row, pulling the working thread twice from the gaps between the columns of the previous row.
Step 5
You can also experiment by combining double loops with regular double crochets. Tie the first double loop as written. Tie the double crochet into the closest column of the previous row. Then knit a double stitch again, followed by a double crochet. You will also get a relief drawing, with a slightly different alternation of motives.
Step 6
The combination of double loops with simple columns looks very interesting. The pattern is very dense. Moreover, in each next row, simple columns are knitted over double loops and vice versa.
