The process of making a lion's face from papier-mâché and faux fur is rather laborious and time-consuming, but unlike paper masks, such a product is more durable and attractive.

It is necessary

  • - thin paper to create the base of the mask;
  • - paste;
  • - artificial fur with short pile in white, yellow and black colors;
  • - brown faux fur with long pile;
  • - black line for the mustache;
  • - yellow-brown velvet or fleece for the ears;
  • - rubber;
  • - glue, stapler, thread, needle.

Instructions

Step 1

Follow the papier-mâché base of the mask. To do this, inflate an ordinary balloon, its size should correspond to the head of the child for whom the mask is being made. Using freshly made paste, glue small pieces of tissue paper to its surface. Leave to dry completely. In this way, make several layers. Let the frame dry on a ball.

Step 2

Pierce the ball, carefully remove the base of the future mask. Use a razor or paper cutter to cut off any excess and shape to match the lion's face. Remember that the mask will cover the upper part of the face, including the nose.

Step 3

Attach the future mask to the child's face, mark where the eyes are. Draw them with a pencil, make cuts with a blade.

Step 4

Make a pattern for a white muzzle, black faux fur nose. You can lay out the rest of the surface with strips of yellow faux fur.

Step 5

Glue the yellow strips with clear, gel-based glue to the papier-mâché frame, butt-to-joint. Pay attention to the direction of the pile. To keep the area of the eye sockets evenly delineated, you can bend the strips to the back of the mask and glue them there.

Step 6

Make a semicircle pattern for the lion's ears from velvet, plush or fleece in a suitable shade. Sew on two parts with the pile inward, turn out, process the edge. Attach the ears to the top of the mask with a stapler or sew.

Step 7

Glue the white cheek piece to the lion's face. Attach the nose, first placing three tendrils of black fishing line under it on each side.

Step 8

Cut the lion's mane out of long pile fur. Keep in mind that the part must be symmetrical about the center line. Glue it to the mask.

Step 9

Cut off a piece of elastic to secure the mask to your head. Make slits in the sides of the mask, insert an elastic band into them, adjust its length and secure.
