When playing the guitar, the correct tuning is of great importance. Even musicians with perfect pitch often use special devices for this - tuners. And the tuner will be especially useful for a beginner in the world of music.
The guitar must be well tuned so that the melody being played does not cut the ears. Experienced musicians are able to do this by ear, but they often use tuners, which allow them to perform the tuning procedure very quickly and efficiently. The tuner is especially useful in ambient noise conditions when it is difficult to hear the sound emitted by the string.
You can find a variety of tuner models in stores - how to make the right choice? First of all, professional musicians advise taking a tuner with a mechanical dial gauge, not an electronic one. The arrow indicator, despite its seeming primitiveness, provides a more accurate setting.
Some tuners additionally have a built-in metronome. On the one hand, it seems to be convenient. At the same time, knowledgeable musicians do not recommend buying combined devices, it is better to have separate devices. As a rule, by combining several functions in one device, manufacturers have to make certain compromises that worsen the parameters of the product as a whole.
What specific models should you buy? The musicians speak very well of the Korg tuners, this is one of the best options. In particular, it is worth paying attention to the Korg OT-120 model. Fender's devices, for example, the DRT-100, and Peterson's devices, namely the Peterson Strobostomp, also performed well. In any case, you should not buy the cheapest tuners, especially those made in China - as a rule, their accuracy is not high enough, and they do not last long.
By design, tuners can be divided into two main types. The first ones are attached to the neck of the guitar and already remove the sound from it. The second, when tuning, are located next to the instrument. The second option is preferable, although among the clip-on tuners (attached to the neck) you can find quite good models - for example, the IntelliTouch.
It is worth noting that many musicians use the old proven method to tune their guitar - they use a tuning fork. However, technology does not stand still, so it is less and less common to find a guitarist who does not have a portable tuner.
