Step 1
Make a bolero pattern based on the pattern of a blouse or a narrow fitted jacket. It is best to build or even order a basic pattern once, according to which you could cut any garment. But you can find something suitable in magazines or on the Internet. For a bolero, you need patterns for the front, back and sleeves
Step 2
Transfer the details of the main pattern to graph paper. Determine the length of the sleeve. It can be long, three-quarters or elbow-length. There are boleros with short sleeves, and even just with an elongated shoulder. Find the middle of the ridge and draw a vertical line across it. Set the length of the sleeve on it. To the resulting point, draw perpendiculars in both directions until they intersect with the side slices. If you are going to make a sleeve with a ruffle or flounce, reduce its length by the width of the additional detail.
Step 3
Decide how long your blouse will be. Take a measurement of the length of the product. The most convenient way to do this is along the spine, from the cervical vertebra to the intended bottom of the bolero. Set aside this measurement on the back seam along the back seam. Draw a perpendicular through the resulting point until it intersects with the side seam. Measure from the bottom of the armhole to this intersection. Set the exact same distance along the side seam of the shelf and also draw a perpendicular to the intersection with the second long cut.
Step 4
Think about how you will arrange the middle of the front. The main pattern is made under the fastener or under the front seam. The edges of the bolero shelves can diverge quite widely, they can be made curly. It is best to draw a sketch first. Along the line of the fastener, draw a line of the desired shape.
Step 5
The bottom can also be decorated in different ways. The easiest way is to leave it straight. But both convex and concave arcs are possible. Find the most convex or concave point of the future contour on the shelf pattern. Connect it with a smooth curve to the bottom points of the side seam and closure. Do the same on the back pattern. Just keep in mind that the back is usually cut along the fold of the fabric. Accordingly, the convex or concave point will lie on the cut of the back seam or its continuation.
