Step 2

Make sure that your story contains the essential elements of any narrative: the opening, the development of the action (complication), the climax and the denouement. Do not experiment too much with the form, observe the classic structure. This is especially important if you are shooting for children.

Step 3

Create a striking protagonist. Think over its appearance. Sculpt an image from plasticine that will be interesting and expressive. Try to come up with as many details as possible for this look. Consider a suit. For the first time, you can make the simplest character (the main thing is that he can "move" his arms, legs). Emotions of characters (smiles, eye movements and other facial expressions) you can apply anew each time, using small pieces of plasticine, colored paper, or draw afterwards on the computer.

Create decorations. There will be as many decorations as there are scenes in the history, according to the script. Take a cardboard box as a basis (it is desirable that its walls are high). Cut off a wall or two at the box, arrange the inner side in accordance with the interior or nature you need.

You can create a decoration by painting on a box with paints, or use mixed techniques - glue fabric, paper, plasticine. The second option is preferable, because due to the mixed techniques, the decoration will look more voluminous and interesting.

Install the decoration, make sure that it is well lit. Use diffused light. If you do not have professional lighting equipment, use any lamp and homemade reflectors (white cardboard sheet, Whatman paper, mirror, etc.) The main thing is that the decoration does not "fall" into the darkness.

Place the characters "inside" the scenery. Mount the camera on a tripod, start shooting. You will need to master the “time-lapse” method. Take a picture, move the character one step forward, take the next picture. Until you get a full-fledged "phase". For example, the transition of a character from the porch of his house to the gate.

Step 7

Don't forget to change your plans. Use broad, medium, and close-up shots. Alternate them to make your cartoon visually more interesting. Zoom in when it is assumed that the character will utter a line and, conversely, move the camera away when you are going to show some movement of the character inside the scenery.

Step 8

Install a video editing program on your computer. Load all the photos you have taken into the program. Make sure they don't get mixed up - this can make your job very difficult. To do this, save each scene to a separate folder.

Lay out the pictures sequentially on the editing track and shorten them so that during the playback you get a smooth movement of the character from point A to B. The uniformity and accuracy of the movement will depend on how carefully you shot and correctly chose the duration of the frames during editing.
