When an iron is not at hand, but you need to look decent, simple but effective ironing methods come to the rescue …
On a business trip, at the dacha, on a trip, there are situations when you need to look neat, and things turn out to be crumpled. In this case, you can use the following simple ways to flatten your clothes:
Special drying
In order not to iron a thing made of delicate fabric (the same applies to thin knitted products), it is enough to spread it out on a flat surface covered with a terry cloth (large towel). An additional plus of such drying is that the product is guaranteed not to lose its shape.
Helpful Hint: To speed up the drying of your favorite sweater or shawl, after washing, gently wrap the garment in a large terry towel and wring it lightly. During the drying process, periodically change the towel on which the item is placed.
Hot steam ironing
If your sweater, T-shirt, or jacket looks very wrinkled and you don't have an iron on hand, try using hot steam. It is done like this: a thing on a hanger must be hung over a bathtub filled with hot water. If there is no bathtub where you are, use a shower stall with hot water. In field conditions, you may be advised to pour boiling water into a large saucepan or basin.
Ironing with water
Of course, this sounds somewhat exaggerated, but the essence of the process is precisely this - in order to smooth out a crumpled thing, you have to wet it a little (sprinkle with water from a spray bottle or just lightly spray it with your hand) and hang to dry. To speed up the process, you can use a hairdryer.
Please note that this method is not very suitable for thick natural yarn fabrics. It is also not very good if the fabric is stained with dried water droplets.
Other easy ways to iron without an iron
- If the collar of a man's shirt (or other small item of clothing made of cotton) is wrinkled, it is not necessary to lay out the ironing board and turn on the iron. Use a flat iron to straighten your hair. Curling irons can also help.
- Remember the old way of pointing the arrows on the trousers - to put them under the mattress all night. This "ironing" option is also suitable for simply ironing wrinkled clothes. Be careful, this method is only suitable for those beds that have a solid base, not slats.
