The presence of a bicycle presupposes the ability of the owner to provide his vehicle with the simplest technical assistance. If you own a bike, you probably know that sometimes it needs both preventive and major repairs. And one of the types of bicycle maintenance is disassembling the cassette, which is necessary in the event of some types of repair work - for example, if you need to replace the sprockets on the cassette.

Instructions

Step 1

First, remove the rear wheel from the bike, and then remove the cassette from the hub along with the ratchet. Take a close look at the cassette - you will see that the sprockets are put on the ratchet body in a certain order and are oriented in a certain way in relation to each other. This orientation and this order must be followed.

Step 2

Remove the nut holding the sprockets and begin to carefully remove them and line them up in the order and position in which they were put on the ratchet body. Also lay out the plastic washers in the right order, which were used for the sprockets. Pre-purchase a special wrench for loosening the nut, which tightens the sprockets.

Step 3

To prevent the cassette from turning during disassembly, use a special whip, which can be purchased at showrooms that sell bicycle repair tools. Hold the ratchet with the whip while you loosen the nut so that it does not begin to move in the direction of the rotating nut.

Step 4

It is not difficult to do this - carefully slide the whip chain onto the largest sprocket of the cassette, and then, holding the whip in place, start turning the nut with a wrench and finally remove it.

Step 5

After that, all actions are simple - as mentioned above, observe the order of the sprockets and washers, removing them from the ratchet and try not to confuse anything. Assemble the ratchet in the correct order as well.
