Traditionally, snares are secondary hunting tools. In the first place, of course, hunting with a gun and a dog, but sometimes it is impossible to get game without using traps or snares, the animal is so careful and secretive. In addition, the use of snares helps to preserve the skins of fur animals.

Instructions

Step 1

Snares and loops are portable devices, the principle of which is to capture the neck, body or limb of an animal or bird with a loop made of a belt, wire or strong twine. The loop holds the captured animal in place or strangles it. In this way, you can catch a variety of game - from gophers to bears.

Step 2

The snares can be placed vertically (the animal gets into the loop with its head or body) or horizontally (the animal's limb gets into the loop). Place traps on the paths of the animal, next to its burrow, in places of feeding.

Step 3

Make a loop for a hare from a soft iron wire with a cross section of 0, 6-1, 1 mm (annealed steel wire is best suited). Take a segment 1-1.5 m long, no more. Twist one end of it into a ring with a diameter of 5-8 mm. Secure it by twisting the short end of the wire around the long one. Now thread the other end of the wire into the resulting ring so that you get a loop no more than 20 cm in diameter. The snare is ready.

Step 4

When installing traps in winter, make sure that they do not touch the snow cover. The bottom of the loop should be 10-15 cm from the surface. Twist the free end of the loop into a small ring and additionally tie a strong rope or twine to it to attach the loop to the trunk of a tree, which is sure to be found next to the hare path.

Step 5

Bend the main end of the loop and squeeze it around the tree trunk so that the loop hangs over the path. Thus, the hare will fall into the loop with its head or upper half of the body. He will try to jump and the noose will immediately tighten. Sharp movements of the beast will cause the noose to fall from the tree, but remain tied to it.

Step 6

When installing a ready-made loop, carefully inspect it: you need to clean it of rust, old oil and check for strength. A hare can easily break an old, weak wire.

Step 7

The most convenient way to catch a hare is by the corral method. Find the area of the forest most populated by hares. Set up loops on all trails and in the center of the lot. Now start the rut: use the rattles, shout yourself as loudly as possible, bypassing all the places where animals can hide. After a while, inspect the installed hinges. For the night, leave only those that stand on the most walkable paths. There are cases when the corral method brought even large animals into the trap - a fox and a wolf, which, however, quite easily break the hare's snare and flee.
