Step 1
After you have drawn a sketch of the manga with a pencil, you need to circle it with pen or ink. At the same time, do different line widths, which will add dynamism to the image. Use thicker lines for key places to create accents, thinner lines to convey distance, flowing hair, etc. A line of equal thickness creates a static, boring picture. After the pen or ink is dry, gently erase the pencil.
Step 2
Scan your drawings in a Grayscale model at a high enough resolution. Open them up in Photoshop. Use the eraser to remove unnecessary artifacts. Make sure the paths are closed, then it will be easier to select them. If this is not the case somewhere, add them. Convert the picture to RGB model. Now with the help of a magic wand, you can select individual areas of the drawing for coloring.
Step 3
Color the picture according to the following algorithm. Select with a magic wand those areas that you want to paint in the same color. Create a new layer using the Layer menu or at the bottom of the Layer palette by clicking on the new layer icon (square with a folded corner) and make this layer active. Increase the size of the selection by a few pixels using the Select-Modify-Expand menu. Fill the resulting areas with color. Fill the remaining areas with other colors in the same way, each on its own separate layer. In this case, the layer with the contours at the end should be the topmost so that it can be seen and it overlaps the slightly enlarged areas filled with color.
Step 4
Don't forget to color the background. It will make the story more interesting, the characters will look more organic. In addition, bright colors can hide some flaws in the construction of human figures and perspective.
Step 5
Regardless of what format the picture you need in the end, be sure to save the version with layers so that you can quickly fix or recolor something at any time.
