Self-coloring of paper is a very exciting activity not only for children, but also for adults. Knowing the techniques of mixing colors, you can get sheets of a variety of interesting and beautiful shades. This paper can be used for making crafts or writing letters.
It is necessary
- - paint;
- - water;
- - baths
- - glass;
- - tweezers.
Instructions
Step 1
For coloring paper, you can use ink, natural dyes, tempera and glue paints. But the brightest and most saturated colors are obtained when using aniline dyes. Choose the colors you like best. But you should definitely buy red, blue, yellow, white and black. They will become the basis for obtaining new shades.
Step 2
The paper that is easiest to write on will do. Glossy and waterproof paper is very difficult to paint. The paint just rolls off on it. If the paper is highly absorbent, it is better to dye it all at once.
Step 3
Prepare the desired shade. To do this, use one of the available colors or come up with a new one. Combine them together until you get a suitable color. Gray, for example, can be obtained by diluting black or by adding white to the latter. Orange is made from red and yellow, and to create purple you need to mix red and blue. Feel free to experiment.
Step 4
If using aniline paint, dilute the selected color with hot water to the desired shade. Then pour the resulting liquid into flat trays. After the paint has cooled, immerse a sheet of paper in it and quickly remove it, gently holding the edge with tweezers. Add more water to the paint for a less saturated color.
Step 5
Spread the colored paper out on a sloped glass surface so that the glass will have excess water and the sheet will be colored evenly. Then hang it on a string until it dries completely.
Step 6
Iron the dry dyed paper on both sides with an iron. In this case, it is better to put a clean white sheet on the ironing board under the paper. This will insure the surface of the board against paper shedding.
Step 7
For glue paints sold in powder form, add wood glue to the dye liquid. One teaspoon of glue should match a glass of water.
Step 8
You can get the effect of old paper using tea leaves or coffee. The dyeing technology in this case will be identical to that used when working with aniline dyes.
