A huge selection of embroidery kits encourages more and more needlewomen to create their own project. Making embroidery is painstaking and not quick. But now the last stitch has been made, and now we need to create a masterpiece. Where to start and what mistakes to avoid?
We wash the finished embroidery, dry it on a horizontal surface, steam it on something soft, for example, a terry towel, without pressure, only steam. Many do not understand why to wash. Indeed, if the project is small and did not take long to embroider, and the embroiderer was extremely careful, she looks perfect outwardly. But over time, handprints in the form of yellow spots may appear on the fabric, especially light colored ones.
Now the embroidery can be rolled up on a rigid base and taken to the baguette workshop. Before you place an order, ask how your work will be technically framed, on what basis it is stretched. Ideally, the work should be stretched over thick cardboard and secured with special tape on the back of the cardboard. Glue or tape on the embroidery field, metal staples around the canvas perimeter are not allowed.
Now it remains to choose a baguette and mat that is suitable in style and color. It is desirable to make a double mat. The most win-win classic option is a light pastel top sheet and a dark or contrasting bottom sheet protruding by 5 mm. Ask a workshop designer to help you, go through a few options, and settle on the one that suits you. After all, you look at him every day afterwards, and there should be no feeling of discomfort.
When the mat is selected, you can proceed to the selection of the baguette. Opt for a medium width, flat or reverse profile baguette. It can be smooth or with fine patterns. If you were embroidering a reproduction of a famous classical painting, a baguette of a classical shape is suitable, as for painting, the color is most likely old gold.
Whether it is necessary to remove the embroidery under the glass is up to you. There are no rules here. Some people like that the embroidery is not covered, so it undoubtedly looks more advantageous, but in this case it will be necessary to periodically clean it from dust. If you decide to do with glass, remember that there are three main types of baguette glass. Ordinary - glossy, matte (it is suitable only for smooth embroidery without beads, beads and other volumetric elements) and museum - glass with a special polymer coating that does not give glare. Remember, such glass cannot be washed with solvents or touched by hands, only dry cleaning with a soft cloth (microfiber).
I wish you creative success and beautiful works!
